Student Affairs Learning and Improvement is dedicated to strengthening co-curricular learning experiences, building meaningful academic partnerships, and creating a culture of continuous improvement through evidence-based decision-making.

Learning and Improvement is responsible for the following within Student Affairs:

Student Learning & Academic Partnerships

  • Lead departments and develop staff to design, facilitate, assess, improve, innovate, and build capacity of co-curricular learning experiences
  • Integrate co-curricular learning efforts with academic affairs
  • Incorporate the university’s Active Learning initiative and core competency development into relevant experiences across Student Affairs
  • Lead implementation of the university’s Experiential Learning initiative in Student Affairs
  • Develop and provide consultation on faculty resources that enhance student success, learning, and engagement
  • Lead and advance campus collaborations and initiatives related to student learning

 

Assessment, Improvement, and Strategic Planning

  • Support departments in developing and implementing their learning and assessment plans, including outcomes and measurement strategies
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement utilizing meaningful data and assessment
  • Oversee strategic planning and reporting for Student Affairs
  • Support compliance-related efforts for SACSCOC accreditation

 

Research & Data

  • In partnership with the Office of Institutional Research, oversee the integration of division and institutional data to enhance evidence-based decision-making
  • Oversee integration of division and institutional data and use by departments
  • Shepherd research partnerships and requests related to Student Affairs departments
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct studies on student behaviors, satisfaction, retention, and attitudes related to Student Affairs and institutional goals
