General Education Assessment
At the University of Georgia, student attainment of general education learning outcomes is currently assessed by a comprehensive set of methods overseen by the Curriculum Committee of the University Council and the faculty members who teach general education core courses. The Office of the Vice President for Instruction supports assessment efforts, including administering institution-wide assessment measures.
The University’s general education curriculum—college-level competencies, student learning outcomes, and the general education courses that deliver them—must meet Board of Regents requirements for general education curricula that balance twin goals of ensuring that all University System of Georgia graduates are prepared for full participation in a global society, and helping students to transfer efficiently between System institutions. The measures for determining student attainment must also meet Board requirements.
